Just Back from Tour...

The Toy Boats went on a 5 week European tour starting late this past September. We met and saw so many excellent things and folks. This tour would not have been possible if not for the kindness of wonderful friends in each of the cities who housed, fed, and booked and shared shows with us. Here's where played and who we met.

This Time...

This time the show is on September 24 at 8pm. Hosting will be the Wayward Music Series. The evening will include a performance of (select) Goldberg variations (by JS Bach) and then a set of improvised music with myself, (trumpeter) Lesli Dalaba and (violinist) Tari Nelson-Zagar.

It's a little nerve racking, but also feeling a nice natural to pull out some Bach. This return to classical repertoire seems to have been a long time coming. In a way, for me, it has been a coming to terms with home, my history with music and how I found to love it in the first place. I’ve realized, with working on these variations how much foundations can serve to keep me going. Really, being stuck has a lot to do with not knowing how it all started.

So, we’ll play some counterpoint and then we’ll improvise!
